What is a Archer Thumb Ring?

A thumb ring is a piece of equipment designed to protect the thumb during archery. This ring was often made of leather, stone, animal horn, wood, ivory, metal, or glass, and now even plastic. A thumb ring fits over the end of the thumb, coming to rest at the outer edge of the outer joint. A flat area extends from the ring to protect the pad of the thumb from the bowstring.

How to measure thumb finger size?

Measure the diameter of your thumb with 2 steps following the above images and comfortably press the vernier around the largest part of your finger making sure it will clear the knuckle.

DETERMINE

After you know what size most fits your thumb consisting of both horizontal and vertical axes, please selecting a size that is closest to your thumb size from size chart. You can choose the loose ring in case that there is not any size fitting your thumb appropriately.

CHECK

How do you use a Thumb Ring?

When drawing a bow using a thumb draw, the thumb is hooked around the bowstring just beneath the arrow, and its grip reinforced with the first (sometimes second) finger. The bowstring rests against the inner pad of the archer's thumb and the thumb ring protects the skin.

Why use a Thumb Ring?

This technique has a variety of advantages compared to traditional western style of releasing:

A thumb and two fingers are far stronger than three fingers allowing for higher draw weights.

Release is much more consistent allowing for greater accuracy.

The thumb ring draw is a very secure and stable draw; it can even be done from horseback.

Shorter bows can be used without worry of pinching your fingers between the string and arrow nock. This appears in horse bows and some compound bows.

Wish all my thumb rings fit like this

Let me start by complimenting the customer service. When I ordered my ring, Murat reached out to me to make sure everything was correct. I don’t know how they did it, but this ring fits so well and is so comfortable that it’s almost like the craftsman made it while I stood by and tried it as he worked.
This is my second. My first ring was horn which I loved, but my dogs ate it. Don’t leave a horn ring laying around when you have dogs!
My second ring is a dark blue amber and is as attractive as it is comfortable to shoot with.

Favorite ring

I got one of the horn rings about six months ago. I’ve literally thrown thousands of arrows from my 50,55 and to a lesser extent 70 lbs bows. Initially I formed a callous and would have a sore spot when using the heavier bows, but everything has smoothed out and works great.the ring sizing is very good. I expected needing winter and summer rings, but this fits great, although a few times in hot humid weather my hands would swell and it would be just a bit snug.
I’d highly recommend this ring

A very pretty ring - and shoots accurately once you get used to it. I find it works best with a shallow hook technique as opposed to a right-angled thumb position - due to the small lip which grips the string. The fit is excellent too so I don’t have to keep adjusting it between shots. Thumbs up from me!

It’s a very nice small thumb ring, that allows you to grab the arrow properly. The string is held by the ring, without groove. It works fine!Size fits precisely! Thank you! ☺️👍🏻
